Mechanical Engineer

Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring assembly drawings provided to the production teams are accurate and clear and enable proper assembly and production. Collaborates with the production team, design engineers, and parts vendors to troubleshoot and resolve assembly and parts issues.

Positions in Ellabell. 

Reports to CEO.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school or GED required.
  • Manufacturing experience required, with understanding of a complete process flow in a production environment.
  • Mechanical assembly experience preferred.
  • Some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP / MRP software preferred.
  • Project Management knowledge preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software suite with emphasis on Excel preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Process Improvement

  • Evaluates existing processes and systems to identify opportunities for cost-savings, process enhancements and other improvements to the production environment.
  • Initiates and coordinates projects and initiatives that enhance productivity and quality on the production floor.
  • Maintains a focus on safe work practices in all engineering and production implementation processes.
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of the 5S program.

Assembly Process

  • Serves as the liaison between design engineers and production team to ensure assembly drawings are clear and accurate and easily implemented to meet production objectives and quality standards.
  • Assists the production floor team in translating assembly drawings to production, ensuring assemblers have a blueprint and information needed to achieve quality production results.
  • Evaluates assembly processes in context of the big picture of production, ensuring continuity and quality at each assembly point.
  • Improves the layout of the production floor and the efficient set-up of workstations.

Troubleshooting 

  • Identifies defects in the assembly process from employee error, defective part, or design error, and works to correct the root cause issue.
  • Tracks and monitors parts and assembly issues using the nonconformance report (NCR) and works to resolution, procuring new parts as needed, working in collaboration with parts vendors and suppliers.
